BIOTECONT Ltd. is a privately owned biotechnology company based at the Pécs Industrial Park founded in 2005 to develop proprietary zebrafish models of human disease for preclinical drug discovery. BIOTECONT is the first Hungarian biotechnology company that provides services and contract research activities using zebrafish in vivo and in vitro experimental models. We also offer technical support and consulting services to universities and public or private research centres. Our main RTD programs are based on the use of zebrafish as a novel animal model for biomedical research. We are developing efficient tools for drug discovery and toxicology as well as new disease models and technologies regarding the laboratory use of the zebrafish. We are aiming to work with our partner companies to:

» Develop new disease models
» Screen compounds for activity
» Evaluate compounds for safety pharmacology
» Undertake target validation studies.

We offer a number of different assays for our customers using zebrafish in the fields of pharmaceutical drug development and ecotoxicology.
Studies are performed using compounds provided by our customers or purchased from third party sources. Treatment conditions, number of animals and experimental time line are determined prior to initiating each study. Written reports are provided.
